Abstract
Associate Professor in Cognitive Science at Lund University in Sweden, Jana Holsanova, was awarded a strategic thematic collaborative initiative from LU, focusing on central societal challenges and based on interdisciplinarity and cooperation with non-academic actors as well as research excellence.
This interdisciplinary initiative includes researchers from three faculties at Lund university, collaborative partners from a number of government agencies and disability organizations in Sweden (MTM, SPSM, SRF, US and Fellingsbro Syntolksutbildning (Training in AD)) and associated international partners from the U.K., Belgium, Spain and Poland.
The co-operation gives an excellent opportunity to discuss research-relevant issues with partners outside academia, identify knowledge gaps and thereby speed up the advance in the research field. The researchers also get new inputs based on the needs of the users and practitioners and can include the target group with visual impairments and blindness in the research. The network also contributes with new contacts and communication channels for dissemination of knowledge, and can also be an active partner for grant applications. Finally, the co-operation includes joint publications, workshops, popular lectures and brainstorms about future interdisciplinary projects.
