Abstract
Nowadays, we are living in the age of communication where technology has developed very quickly. There are a variety of ways to initiate a communicative process. Consequently, a new branch of research has appeared: Audiovisual Translation (AVT). Among the different translation practices inside this field, our study is framed within audio-description, specifically applied to accessibility in museum contexts. We also pay special attention to the artworks’ tactile resources which are sometimes offered in exhibitions and are used to complete the information provided by the AD. A new experience of multisensorial communication in museums is proposed using this technique. This supplementary information makes us reflect on the importance of redundancy for the understanding of artworks. To this end, we have made an empirical work about one of the replicas of architectural work showed at the Museo Tiflológico in Madrid.
