Abstract
The primary goal of this paper is to study the translation problems linked to the fictional world of BioShock Infinite (2013). The theoretical part of this article delves into narrative structures called «fictional worlds» and their traits in the sphere of video games and more specifically, in the BioShock Infinite universe. Subsequently, the translation of video games will be studied in the light of the concept of «translation problem» and its links to fictional worlds following a qualitative inductive-deductive approach. The analytical section describes- the methodology used to contrastively observe the translation problems detected during the transfer of this video game from English into Spanish, which is based on scholars such as Reiss & Vermeer (1984), Munday (2016) and Nord (2018), among others. Finally, the paper presents conclusions regarding the functionality of the options used to materialize this interactive narrative environment.
