Globollywood. "Caminho das Índias" entre estereótipos, castas e code-mixing

The current paper analyses the way India and its cultural universe are re-interpreted and represented in Brazilian telenovela Caminho das Índias (2009). An analysis of this audio-visual product shows that linguistic and cultural ‘translation’ processes are at work. In particular, the paper will discuss the following features: constant code-mixing (Brazilian Portuguese-Hindi); and forms and processes of hybridization which are highly interesting from a cultural point of view.
