Accessibility as far as the eye can see. An accessible film festival

In this chapter, the authors describe their experience at the Festival de Cinema Acessível (AFF) in Portugal, in the international context of film festivals that take into account the audience’s special needs, from the perspective of linguistic diversity and the role of audiovisual translation. The authors identified a total of 12 festivals in the world with this focus. More specifically, AFF offered audiodescription, subtitles for the deaf and audiosubtitles provided by students, with differences in the number of participants and the offer in the two editions described. In terms of quality and technical difficulties, this experience offers some points for reflection in future similar events.
