Migration, multilingualism and European heritage. The biopics "Django" (2017) and "Vor der Morgenröte" (2016)

This article discusses the concept of the "European heritage film", integrating, among other things, the use of multilingualism, as shown in two recent biopics, "Django" (2017) and "Vor der Morgenröte" (2016). Focusing on migration as an ideologically charged topic and a central theme in multilingual film, the analysis not only reveals the various functions of multilingualism in narrating the protagonists’ migration experiences, but also its political dimension.
